A year ago US regulators nixed a deal for Chinese fintech giant Ant Financial’s buyout of MoneyGram; this time around they are taking no chances; Ant Financial has been in talks since late last year to acquire UK-based money transfer company WorldFirst; WorldFirst has a US operation that began in 2011; it will be spun off this month so this new deal cannot be derailed by US regulators; this will be Ant Financial’s first big push into the European market.
