Victory Park Capital Partners with the World Bank

Victory park Capital is partnering with the International Finance Corporation on a new fund to invest in fintech startups in emerging economies; the IFC is a private sector sister organization to the World Bank; "The reliance on mobile devices for day-to-day life is more prevalent in emerging markets and that creates a big opportunity," Brendan Carroll, a senior partner and cofounder of VPC, told Business Insider; while the size of the fund is not disclosed they plan to work on about 3 to 4 deals a year. Victory Park Capital Exits Prosper Holding

Continuing their strategy of moving to balance sheet lending platforms the fund sold their entire holding in Prosper marketplace loans; the holding amounted to 4.1 percent of the company’s net asset value or NAV as of October 31st; the company also said they were able to reinvest all the process form the Prosper sale into balance sheet investments and have increased their balance sheet exposure to 79 percent of the fund. Victory Park Capital Reports Fourth Quarter Loss

The Victory Park Capital Specialty Lending Fund reported a net total return of -1.47% for the fourth quarter of 2016 with its marketplace loan investments dragging on total return; while reporting a loss for the fourth quarter, the fund says "…there has been further progress in the reallocation of capital to balance sheet investments"; the fund increased its balance sheet investments to 51% of the fund's net asset value in the fourth quarter, up from 22% at the beginning of the year; firm continues to reallocate its fund and is also buying back shares.  Source

OnDeck Loses SVP of Capital Markets to Victory Park Capital

Zhengyuan Lu, OnDeck's Senior Vice President of Capital Markets, will soon move to investment firm, Victory Park Capital; his last day is Tuesday; Victory Park invests in and provides credit facilities to online lenders, including Avant Inc. and Square Inc.; the last year has been a challenge for OnDeck as investors have not been buying loans at the same pace and this has forced the lender to hold more loans on its balance sheet.  Source
