Fox Fintech, an affiliate of Sohu.com, was able to obtain the first micro-credit license by the Ningbo City Government in China; Alex Ho, Fox Fintech Group's founder and CEO, commented, "We are applying advanced technologies in big data, facial recognition, machine learning and self-developed algorithms to bring efficient, convenient and inclusive credit service to China."; the internet micro-credit license allows for Fox Fintech to lend across the country, traditional micro-credit licenses are limited to the city where they are approved. Yirendai, an affiliate of CreditEase, is the only Chinese online lender publicly traded on a US exchange; its stock price closed at $29.29 prior to the company's earnings announcement after the closing bell on March 15; year-to-date the stock is up 41.36%; the earnings results showed revenue of $154.3 million for the fourth quarter, beating estimates by $19.38 million and increasing 137% from the comparable quarter; revenue for the year was $466.4 million an increase from $190.1 million in 2015; earnings per share for the fourth quarter were $0.91, beating estimates by $0.58 and increasing 287% from the comparable quarter; earnings per share for the year were $2.72 an increase from $0.79. The State Council's "Made in China 2025" initiative is seeking to transform China into a greater innovator of technology; the initiative seeks to capitalize on artificial intelligence, big data analytics and robotics and is being designated as a three-step national guideline; along with the initiative the country's State Council has identified 17 national-level innovation demonstration zones that will be allowed favorable policies in order to bolster their respective geographical strengths and support increased regional innovation.
