UK based online real estate lender LendInvest announced a $328mn securitization deal yesterday which is the second in the last few weeks for the online lending industry; the deal points out another potential pitfall for bank branches as it proves out the internet distribution model; the U.S. securitization market is significantly bigger and online lenders have taken to using this method on a pretty regular basis; though as FT Alphaville points out the answer to whether or not bank branches are sustainable is unknown, what this and other deals point to is the model could have an impact and the EU securitization market seems to be gaining some traction.
