Luis is responsible for Citi Ventures’ fintech investments, focused on the Americas, Europe, SouthEast Asia and India. His investments blend VC best practices with Citi’s value-add, and include Socure, HighRadius, Forter, DriveWealth, Loft, HoneyBook, iCapital, Feedzai, Blockdaemon, Forto, PPRO, SmartAsset, Fidel API, Octane, Splash, Soldo, Proxymity, and Justt.

Luis previously founded and ran JPMorgan’s Strategic Investments group for 8 years, investing in 30 companies including 7 that IPOd (Square, Markit, Tradeweb, BATS/DirectEdge, Air Lease Corp, Pico Trading, Solid), 8 that were sold (LME, LCH, LevelUp, Source ETF, Chi-X Global, clearXchange-Zelle, BIDS) and 2 still private unicorns (Symphony, Avant).

A frequent fintech conference speaker (Money2020, Sibos, LendIt, Finovate, InnovateFinance, ParisFintech, etc.), Luis was previously a principal at Softbank and consultant at McKinsey. A champion of diversity, Luis has a Harvard MBA, hails from Bolivia, lives outside NY and loves skiing, tennis, travelling, reading, the performing arts, and bubbles.
