Orchard provides insight on its Q4 2016 originations report which shows total originations of $2.1 billion; data for the Orchard report only includes originators on the platforms that have allowed their data to be shared publicly; from the report, Orchard shows an increase of 10% in originations from the previous quarter which is the first increase since Q4 2015; charge-offs appear to be trending slightly higher in 2014 and 2015 than in previous years which is likely a factor of the entrance of more subprime lenders and could also be the result of broadening credit models; the data also shows borrowing rates trending lower; a breakdown of interest rates by FICO and interest rates by loan size is also provided. Funding Circle led originations for August with loan issuance of EUR99.3 million ($118.18 million); Zopa followed closely behind Funding Circle with EUR87.4 million ($104.02 million) and RateSetter reported loan issuance of EUR38.2 million (45.44 million); the report does not include US marketplace lending platforms. P2P-Banking.com has released international lending volumes for July; Zopa topped the list with originations of EUR119.6 million ($USD141.9 million) for the month; report includes a number of milestones including cumulative lending of GBP2.5 billion ($3.28 billion) for Zopa and GBP2 billion ($2.63 billion) for RateSetter; the report does not include data from US P2P lending platforms. New regulations slowed the growth of P2P lending in China in 2016; data from P2P001 reports that transaction volume in P2P lending increased by 138% in 2016 to over 2.8 trillion yuan ($403 billion) however that was only half of the transaction volume growth reported in 2014 and 2015; on August 24, 2016 the government issued new requirements for the industry, one of which requires that lenders partner with banks for custodian services; this adds additional costs for lenders and as of the end of 2016 only 7.98% had partnered with a custodian bank. P2P-Banking.com has released its monthly report on marketplace lending originations; Funding Circle, RateSetter and Zopa led in December however loan volume for the UK lenders was down from November; Funding Circle originated €114.1 million ($118.92 million), RateSetter originated €68.2 million ($71.08 million) and Zopa originated €60.2 million ($62.74 million); in December Funding Circle's loan volume decreased -14% from November, RateSetter's originations decreased -1% and Zopa's originations decreased -25%.
