The program began with an introduction to our local tide pools by the Eco-Adventure Center naturalists, followed by a quick walk down to Salt Creek Beach. Finds included sea anemones, urchins, small fish, sand castle worms, sea stars, hermit crabs and much more. Along with tide pooling, the group gained a better understanding of kelp, our famous grunions, boring clams and sand crabs. After exploring, the group discussed the importance of leaving shells and rocks on the beach. In this interactive excursion, teams searched for various creatures as they competed in Tide Pool Bingo. Participants had a great time discovering different aquatic life in the remarkable tide pools.
